Who we are
Rema Construction is a Wellington/Auckland-based civil construction company delivering specialist underground utility and infrastructure solutions across the Lower North Island and wider New Zealand. Founded in 2020, we have built our reputation on practical expertise, reliable delivery, and a strong commitment to doing the job properly from start to finish. We specialise in directional drilling, trenchless technology, hydro excavation, trenching, excavation works, chain digging, ground penetrating radar, traffic management, and the installation of utility services, alongside general civil construction works including retaining walls, driveways, footpaths, roading, and site preparation.
At the heart of our business is a specialist capability in horizontal directional drilling. Our team has successfully delivered drilling works across different parts of New Zealand and in a wide range of ground conditions, from urban service corridors and restricted access sites through to mixed ground, clay, sand, rockier profiles, steep terrain, and environmentally sensitive areas. We are experienced in complex drilling applications, including installations beneath highways and roads, under streams and creeks, and up or across steep hillsides where careful planning, bore accuracy, ground understanding, and skilled operation are essential.
Our approach combines innovation, modern equipment, and proven construction knowledge. With teams operating from Wellington through to Auckland, we bring together more than 50 years of collective industry experience and access to a strong plant and equipment fleet, including excavators, tip trucks, dump trucks, rollers, Vermeer Series II directional drilling rigs, hydrovac trucks, traffic management trucks, and crane truck support. This capability allows us to respond confidently to a wide range of civil construction requirements while maintaining control over quality, programme, safety, and site coordination.
We understand that underground infrastructure projects often take place in busy, sensitive, or technically challenging environments. That is why we place strong emphasis on planning, communication, risk management, and choosing the right methodology for each site. Whether installing power, telecommunications, water, stormwater, wastewater, or other utility services, our goal is to minimise disruption, protect existing assets, reduce environmental impact, and deliver a clean, efficient result that stands up over time.
Our values define who we are and how we work. Integrity is our most important value. It means we do what we say we will do, communicate honestly, take responsibility, and build trust with our clients, our people, our subcontractors, and the communities we work in. Teamwork drives our performance on site, excellence sets the standard for our delivery, and pride is reflected in the quality of our workmanship and the way we represent our company on every project.
At Rema Construction, we are more than a civil contractor. We are a dependable project partner focused on safe delivery, practical solutions, and long-term relationships. Guided by our motto, One team, one dream, we bring the right people, plant, and attitude to every job, delivering infrastructure solutions with professionalism, care, and pride.
How we work
At Rema Construction, the way we work is built on integrity, safety, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering the right outcome for every project. We do more than build utility networks — we build trusted relationships with our clients, our people, local communities, and key stakeholders. From early planning and design through to construction, delivery, and ongoing support, we work closely with everyone involved to understand project requirements, manage risks, communicate clearly, and keep work progressing safely and efficiently.
Health and safety are central to every decision we make. Our priority is to protect our team, our clients, subcontractors, the public, and the environments we work in. We take a proactive approach to safety through careful planning, site assessment, clear procedures, ongoing communication, and a strong focus on identifying and controlling risks before work begins. By creating a safe and well-organised worksite, we support better outcomes for everyone involved.
We also embrace technology and modern construction methods to improve accuracy, efficiency, and project control. Through directional drilling, trenchless solutions, hydro excavation, service locating, ground penetrating radar, and practical digital planning tools, we aim to reduce disruption, protect existing infrastructure, and deliver smarter solutions for complex sites. Our use of technology supports better decision-making, safer worksites, and a higher standard of delivery.
Our people are at the heart of our business. We are committed to supporting our staff through teamwork, respect, training, and a positive workplace culture where everyone is encouraged to take pride in their work. We believe that when our team is supported, informed, and valued, they are better equipped to deliver excellent service and quality outcomes for our clients.
For our clients and stakeholders, we focus on being easy to work with, responsive, well organised, and transparent. We understand that successful projects rely on strong communication, practical problem-solving, and respect for timeframes, budgets, surrounding communities, and existing assets. Our goal is to create a smooth and professional experience from start to finish, delivering work that meets expectations and builds long-term confidence in Rema Construction.
